What is the Difference Between by the Door and by Type?

In property management, reservations are usually placed in a specific unit request by the guest. This method is known as ‘Book by the Door’ because the guest knows the specific unit and ‘door’ they are booking.

AOA properties allow the guest to ‘Book by the Type.' Booking by the type can be equated to how hotel reservations work. A guest chooses a hotel but, instead of picking a specific room, they just request a ‘2 bed luxury suite’ and the reservationist chooses one of the 20 rooms in the hotel that are configured to that type. This allows the reservationist to place bookings more efficiently with regards to total hotel occupancy. The same method can apply to villas, town homes, etc, where you have multiple similar units, where you can place the guest into which ever availability fits best.
