Set up tax types and tax locations
Updated over a week ago

Setting up taxes and assigning an accurate tax location for each of your units is important because it tells the system how much tax to collect. Taxes can vary by location, with some locations having two tax types and others having three. For example, in Florida, there is sales and tourist tax, but the actual tax amounts vary by county.

Adding taxes in CiiRUS is easy with just a few simple steps:

  1. Create your tax types.

  2. Add your tax locations and tax amounts.

  3. Assign the tax location to each unit.

This set up only has to be done one time, but remember whenever you add a new listing, you'll need to assign the tax location to it.

We recommend verifying your tax types and locations with a local tax specialist before adding them to the system and placing bookings to ensure 100% accuracy.

Create tax types

Tax types can be created from the Reservation & Fees Setup section of the Settings Assistant:

From the Tax Types section, enter up to three tax types.

Enter up to three tax types in the Tax Types section. If you have units in multiple counties and one county only has two taxes, enter all three tax types here. When adding the location, you can specify just two for that county.

Add tax locations

Add tax locations for your units based on their location. For example, if you have units in Polk County and Oseola County, add both locations.

To add a new location, click the "Add+" icon. A new row will appear in the grid.

  1. Enter the location name.

  2. Enter the tax amounts (%) for each tax type. If a tax type doesn't apply for the location, leave it at 0.00.

  3. Click the "Save" icon.

Once you add a tax location, you can't remove it from the system, so make sure you're certain before adding it.
