Creating custom listing amenities

In addition to the general features and amenities that CiiRUS offers for channel platforms, you can also create custom amenities for your website. These can be used to highlight specific aspects of your units, such as their location, amenities, or special features.

For example, you could create a custom amenity for "Mountain View" or "Ski-Resort Home." These amenities would then appear on the listing details page on your website, as well as in the filters section on the search page. This would allow guests to easily find rentals that match their specific needs.

Before we get started, it's important to note that any custom amenities you create will only be visible on your CiiRUS website. The channels you list your units on, such as Vrbo and Airbnb, have their own lists of supported amenities.

How to configure custom amenities

To create a custom amenity, go to:

  1. Websites

  2. General Settings

  3. Custom Website Amenities

A new tab will open in your browser where you can add and edit the custom amenities.

There are three steps to create and assign the amenities:

  1. Create and upload an icon

  2. Create a title and description

  3. Assign the amenity to the applicable unit(s)

Step One: Create and upload an icon

Any icon can be used to represent the amenity as long as it's 16px by 16px and a PNG file.

We recommend using the following icon website to choose from a variety of icons:

They have every icon you can possibly imagine!

Once you find the perfect one, save it as a PNG (16px x 16px) file to your computer.

Now you're ready to upload the icon via the amenity page from CiiRUS. To do so, select "Upload Icons" and choose the icon from your recent downloads:

Once the icon has successfully uploaded, click "Edit Icons" to go back to the main screen.

Step Two: Create a title and description

Next, you can give your amenity a title and description that will show on your website. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Select the icon from the check-box in the first column

  2. Click "Update Feature Title"

  3. Enter the title and the description (these can be the same)

  4. Click "Update Titles"

When entering the title and description, spaces are not permitted. For example, instead of entering "Mountain View," enter "MountainView."

Step Three: Assign the amenity to the applicable unit(s)

Now that the amenity is created, you assign it to the applicable units. To do so, click on "Assign to Properties"

On the next page, follow these steps to assign the feature to the unit:

  1. Re-select the feature from the list under "Available Features to Assign".

  2. Select the unit from the drop-down menu.

  3. Click on the "Update Property" button.

  4. Click on the "Update" button to confirm.

  5. Repeat for each unit and amenity.

To see which amenities have already been assigned, select the unit from the drop-down and see the assigned amenities under "Currently Assigned Features to this Property."

Remove an amenity from a unit

If you accidentally added an amenity to a unit, or if the amenity is no longer applicable, you can remove it from the unit and the website. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Select the unit from the drop-down menu.

  2. Select the amenity you want to remove.

  3. Click on the "Remove Features" button.

  4. Click on the "Remove" button to confirm.

Adding the amenities to your website

Once you've assigned a custom amenity to a unit, it will automatically appear on the listing page under the "Features" section. However, to make the amenity searchable on the search page, you'll need to contact the website team to have it programmed into the search criteria. You can do this by submitting a ticket through the CiiRUS Help Center.
