Add a blackout date
Updated over a week ago

A blackout date is a block on a unit's availability calendar that prevents guests from quoting or booking it. Blackout dates are typically used for scheduled maintenance, stop sales, or non-bookable periods.

To add a blackout date, you can use the add reservation shortcut from anywhere in the system, or from the Reservations Manager or Unified Calendar.

Reservations Manager

From the Reservations Manager, you can manage your unit's availability and view your reservations in a list or calendar view. You can add new reservations or blackouts.

To add a blackout from the Reservations Manager, go to:

  1. Reservations > Reservations Manager

  2. Select the applicable unit from the Unit Chooser

  3. Click the "Add+" icon to add a blackout

From the add reservation popup window, enter the following details:

  1. Confirm the unit selection

  2. Specify "Blackout dates" as the type

  3. Select the start and end dates

  4. Enter a description such as "Kitchen renovation"

  5. Click the "Add" button

After adding the blackout, the Folio will open. The Folio will look a little different for a blackout. It will show the basic details of the blackout, plus allow you to add a housekeeping or inspection, add comments, and upload files if applicable.

You can also add a reservation or blackout from the Unified Calendar. Click here to learn more about using the Unified Calendar.

Add new reservation/blackout short-cut

If you quickly need to add a blackout and you're currently working in a different module in CiiRUS, you can add a blackout one of two ways:

  1. Use the keyboard shortcut: You use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+B to open the "Add Reservation" popup. Specify blackout as the reservation type.

  2. Use the Quick Actions menu: From the top navigation menu, click the dotted icon to open the Quick Actions menu and select "Add Reservation"
